2021-2022 Application of Technology in the classroom

This year my goal was to bring more hands on into the classroom along with application of new technology. After Christmas we received our new SMART Boards in which students are able to digitally drag and  collaborate together a variety of lessons. I have used the SMART Board as a way to begin a class discussion, Collaboration with a daily spiral as well as a way to collaborate with their group to complete a digital lesson that is hands on drag and drop. The students love getting a chance to work with the SMART Board. I still continue to use a variety of tools and educational platforms including our own Schoology platform. I use BOOM Cards, Easel Digital Task Cards , Webquests, Interactive Slide journaling, as well as Jamboard and Nearpod to help create ways for students to collaborate online and learn through flipped learning.

2020-2021 Application of Technology in the classroom

This year I took majority of my lesson online. Due to this year being unique and managingr remote students along with inclass students I decided that it would be a good year to find online digital interactive resources that can support both. I found a variety of resources such as Boom Cards, Interactive Slides for  Novel Journaling, Digital Task Cards through Easel and TPT as well as utilizing our new Schoology Platform. Through Schoology students were able to participate in Discussion forums, record video with open ended questions as well as submit assignments with short answer.

I also decided to take my stations online this year by utilizing the resources that can be embeded in schoology. I was able to embed Edpuzzle and Brain Pop into Schoology so students could get automatic feedback on their formative assignments. Stations included online/digital acitivies such as Kahoots, Quizzez, digital task cards., Scholoastic passages online with google form quizes, Edpuzzle or Brain pop and interactive games or acitivies that were found online.

2019-2020 Application of Technology in the classroom

- My students continue to use educational technology in the classroom. Students partipate throught Google Classroom and Skyward Discussion Boards. Students show their knonwledge of content through creating Prezis, google Slides, Google Sites as well as utilizing Coding and Tynker for final products.

I also utilize Skyward digital dropboxes as well as Google Classroom for Discussion Forums and Digital turn in. Through our onlie learning I utilize Go Guardian to monitor and communicate with studtents and schedule whole class and small group Zooms to check on student progress and understanding as well as utilize it to teach small group instructions and review.

ONLINE LEARNING:

With COVID19  I have found varies avenues to help students get the most of this time. I Zoom with students on a daily  and weekly basis. With Discussion Forums, Digital Google Forms, Digital Task Cards, Dialectical Journaling and videos of myself to help students understand and get the most out of our online clsassroom. I use Go Guradian to discuss and monitor students work as well as email and Band. We created a Band classroom for both 3rd and 4th grade to allow students to message each other and teachers as well as being able to monitor what is being posted. It has also been an avenue to get information to students out at a whole class level.

2018-2019 Application of Technology in the classroom

- My students use technology in a variety of ways in my class. They create websites, google slides and Prezi's for formative instructional presentations as well as pieces of their final PBL projects. They have used QR Code Generators to display websites on a brochure. They have designed and created products using Coding sites such as Scratch. They use sites such as Kahoot and Quizizz to check for understanding of their Student Workshops over specific standards they taught to their class peers.

-I incorporate technology on a regular basis in my classroom. I have used BlendSpace as a blended learning stations as well as Recap as a formative assessment tool.  For Engineer Week I had both my 4th and 5th grade students complete a Coding Activity from the Hour of Code Site. They received a certificate once they had completed all of the levels. Hour of Code Certificate.png

-For the second year, I had my Fifth grade students complete a Digital Citizenship PBL where they learn about the 9 elements of Digital Citizenship. They create lessons and interactive games to inform younger students about becoming great Digital Citizens.

Evaluations through Technology

I have created many Google Forms as formative evaluations over a workshop. I have used Schoology Technology such as discussion questions and set up stations tabs through numerous links and PDFs for students to click though. I use Schoology Assessments to assess formative and summative data to receive immediate feedback through Rubrics and Assessments. I have implemented several student evaluation apps and programs such as  Lexia, IXL -Map Student Growth Skill Plan and Diagnostic, as well as Edpuzzle, Nearpod, Quzzez, Kahoot, Brain Pop and Boom Cards. I use these platforms to help evaluate and monitor student's reading comprehension levels. I have also used Story Jumper, Animoto  and Flip Grid to allow students to use the platforms to create innovative PBL and record their knowledge of the content in an innovative creative way.

ELA /SS Class Websites

I created websites this year to organize my Third and Fouth grade Classes.

With in each website I had a Welcome Page, Google Calendar Linked in with assignments, Homework tab, Reading tab, Writing Tab, Social Studies Tab,  and PBL tab.

Third Grade Web Page

Fourth Grade Web Page

Digital linked Weekly Agenads

With this year being a remote and inclass year, I decided it would be best practice to give students weekly agenda to follow to help them manage and locate assignments. Students can follow these weekly agendas to make sure they complete what is due for that day. The agendas also give them another place to access the content.

Technology use with Classroom Management

I use a site and an app called Class DOJO as one of my tools for Classroom Management. This app allows me to reward students for expected behaviors. I also use this app as an additional way of parent contact and to keep parents updated on their child's behavior.

Technology Application in the Classroom

Technology through Student Products

Students implement technology in my classroom in a variety of ways. Many PBL products are created through creating websites, using Google Docs and Pic College to create  Brochures and Flyers, and students have learned how to create QR codes of their websites to put into their variety of visuals for final products. I have also taught students to use technology such as Popplet to Brainstorm Ideas for PBL.

HOUR of CODE

All of my 4th and 5th graders have also been required to complete the Hour of Code and receive a certificate of completion at https://hourofcode.com/us . Students as well as my self have practiced using code and incorporating it into PBL to help build explanations over their content implementing code through "SCRATCH"

Technology Independent Study/ Digital Citizenship PBL

Mrs. Burke-Hicks and I were assigned an Independent Study class that focused on us finding a technology issue with in our school. We choose to address the level of implementation of technology TEKS in the classroom. We decided to create a PBL that focused on teaching the 9 themes of digital citizenship combining Elements of Design in Art, ELA expository compositions, persuasive techniques and nonfiction text structures and features.  Students were assigned one of the 9 themes of digital citizenship and in charge of designing a digital presentation to teach that theme to the 3rd and 4th grade. They also had to create a poster to create awareness as well as an engaging activity to assess the younger students knowledge over the theme that was taught.
